Post savers for your wooden posts and fencing

Wooden posts and fences are made of high-quality wood, but even then, moisture and wood rot can shorten their lifespan. That's why post savers were invented. These are essentially covers that form a protective layer around the wood. Wood rot and moisture always penetrate the wooden post just below the ground, but the rest of the wood is still in excellent condition. With a post saver, you can drastically extend the lifespan of wooden fences.

Post protectors against moisture and wood rot

Wood is a natural product and therefore always vulnerable to external influences. Moisture is a particular culprit. The Dutch climate is unfortunately quite rainy, especially in autumn. Moisture seeps into the ground and penetrates the wood, ultimately causing wood rot. Wood rot always begins at the point just below the ground surface of the wooden post. Therefore, the damage only affects a small portion of a wooden post, while the remaining wood retains its good condition. This means your fence needs to be replaced early, although it can also be prevented. Post savers are a solution for extending the overall lifespan of a wooden fence. By applying a post protector around the post, the bitumen shrink sleeve will block moisture. Incidentally, you'll barely notice the post savers: they protrude only a few centimeters above the ground.

Apply post savers

Lands End post savers vary in length and width from 10 cm to 17 cm. Upon delivery, you will receive comprehensive instructions for correct installation of the protective sleeves. The post protectors are made of thick polyethylene. Place the sleeve over the post. For a secure fit, it's important to heat the post saver to the post. This is possible using the fusible bitumen sealant on the inside of the sleeve. The material melts under the heat and shrinks around the post like a sleeve. Using a gas torch, heat gun, or paint burner, you can quickly and easily attach the protector to the post. This way, you can easily and quickly enjoy your wooden fence for many years to come.
